Reserve bank of India, Raipur

The desired brief for an iconic and climatically sensitive office complex saw the development of a fenestration-based design that is driven by various shapes used on Indian currency notes. As a jail-like pattern of these forms flow along the facades they bridge the gap between the architectural and cultural intent. Site conditions and climate dictate the facade treatments which themselves find place in the inclined volumes rising out of the site’s landscape. This play of forms guides the visitor into the building, as rich earthy walls bring the tone of the local and landscape sculptures and embossed brand logo on facade endorse the status of RBI as a nationalised bank.
